Actavis Extends International Sports Sponsorship through Partnership with EHF EUROs 2014

Zug/Buchs – The men’s EHF European Championship in Handball will be held in Denmark from January 12 to January 26 next year, with the women’s tournament taking place in Hungary and Croatia from December 7 to December 21, 2014. Actavis, the global specialty pharma company, is now an official sponsor of both events. This extends Actavis’ sponsorship activities in international sport.

The men’s and women’s EHF EUROs are among the highlights of the European sporting calendar next year. At the beginning of the year, the best men’s national teams will line up in Denmark, where the defending champions are also the host nation. The country is already eager with anticipation. Toward the end of the year, the women will battle it out in Hungary and Croatia as Montenegro looks to defend its title. Actavis is an official sponsor of both of these attractive tournaments and will use them to promote its international brand communication.

“Our partnership with handball complements perfectly our commitment to international ice hockey as we will cover our European key markets and will show our brand in another attractive and international sport event. We are looking forward to both events,” says Lars Ramneborn, Senior Vice President Pharma Division International. Actavis is currently a premium partner of the European Trophy, including the Red Bulls Salute European Trophy Finals, and the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. In addition, Actavis was present as a gold partner at the recent 2013 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. Both the men’s and the women’s tournaments will decide who is the best team in Europe – and all the teams taking part will be giving their best.

Jean Brihault, President of the European Handball Federation, commented: “We are expecting huge worldwide interest in the upcoming Men’s and Women’s EHF EURO 2014 events both live in the arenas and worldwide via extensive television coverage. This offers a global company such as Actavis an excellent opportunity both for brand exposure and sponsorship activation, and we are extremely pleased that they have chosen to partner handball and the EHF EURO events.

ISA International Sports Agency AG, which has already supported Actavis’ past and present sponsorship partnerships, is responsible for the organization and implementation of this commitment. “We consider ourselves fortunate to have been able to involve a now established sports partner in the EHF EURO tournaments and to support Actavis’ commitment in every respect,” says Christoph Schredt, CEO of ISA. Actavis continues to back ice hockey

Buchs – Specialty pharmaceutical company Actavis is to be the official central sponsor for the European Trophy 2013. This will be the fourth year of the popular European ice hockey club competition. This new sponsorship builds on Actavis’ successful involvement with the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship 2013.

Following on from the international success of its début as official sponsor of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, Actavis, the world’s third largest generics producer, is continuing its association with ice hockey by becoming the official central sponsor of the most important club competition in Europe.

The group stage consists of 128 games, in which the best 32 teams from seven European countries will battle it out in 4 divisions for a place in the final tournament. Exciting games are guaranteed, since only the 6 best teams qualify for the European Trophy final, the Red Bulls Salute, in the Berlin O2 World from 19 – 22 December 2013.

And also on the ice for every game: the newly launched brand identity of Actavis, successfully presented for the first time at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship 2013. In addition to the Actavis signs on the boards at all games, every player will wear the new Actavis logo, prominently displayed on their jerseys. The European Trophy 2013 starts on 6 August.

“As with the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, we are attracted by the international character of the European Trophy. This will enable our new Actavis brand identity to reach our target markets via the leading platform in European club ice hockey,” says Lars Ramneborn, SVP Actavis Europe.

Bo Lennartsson, Tournament Director of the European Trophy, added: “Actavis’ involvement as central sponsor illustrates the growing attraction of our competition, even for global sponsors. Leading clubs from seven big ice hockey nations are taking part in the European Trophy – the company will therefore benefit greatly from the increasing popularity and media attention. Last year the Red Bulls Salute was broadcast to more than 30 countries.”

Also on the puck is the Swiss sports marketing agency ISA International Sports Agency AG. CEO Christoph Schredt is glad that the successful collaboration with ice hockey is to continue: “There is great potential in an international format of club ice hockey. We are even more thrilled about the involvement of our long-standing customer Actavis.”

Actavis’ products are now produced and marketed by more than 17,000 employees in 60 subsidiaries worldwide, under the leadership of the global headquarters in Parsippany (New Jersey/USA) and the international headquarters in Zug/Switzerland.
